Clase Azul Mexico’s transformation from artisanal tequila producer to luxury lifestyle brand has taken another step forward with the unveiling of a beautiful brand home sitting in the heart of Mexico City.
Famed for its ornate decanters and small-batch agave spirits, Clase Azul has been expanding into all areas of lifestyle, including private lounges and fine dining. This converted mansion, located in the Polanco neighborhood, is another large investment in bringing the brand to life in Mexico’s most affluent locations.
Named Casa de Los Leones, the mansion’s restoration was designed and led by Cúbica Arquitectos in collaboration with a group of leading and emerging Mexican designers. That stays true to the company’s roots, which has employed local artisans to make its decanters by hand.
“Casa de los Leones is our homage to Mexico–a sacred home where our roots, our culture, and our future converge,” said the founder, Arturo Lomelí. “Clase Azul was never meant to live only in a decanter. This house represents a natural evolution of who we are: a place to gather, to share, and to honor Mexican culture through meaningful experiences, hospitality, and human connection.”
While the mansion has been well and truly modernized, some of its most important features have been retained and restored. None more striking than the original stained-glass windows and chandelier, which were restored by artist Thierry Jeannot. Stone staircases, polychrome mosaic floors, and wrought iron detailing remain in place, set alongside modern interventions.
Much of what is new has been custom-designed by Mexican craftspeople, and art installations (featuring Mexican artists, naturally) will be on rotation. The inaugural work is by Oaxacan artist Amador Montes, designer of the decanter for the limited-edition Encuentros mezcal.
The Lounge and Cocktail Bar will be available by appointment, with a Taste of Time experience offering a guided tasting of five Clase Azul México expressions paired with a chef-crafted bite. For those already well acquainted with Clase Azul, there’s an entire floor dedicated to the brand’s private clients, including a library and a terrace.
