Rosemaund Farm Distillery is owned by the Chase family, known for reviving artisanal gin and vodka before selling their eponymous business to Diageo. After Diageo moved operations to Scotland, the Chase family bought the distillery back, along with some experimental whisky casks that were quietly filled as part of a pet project. That is why Rosemaund's debut release is also one of the oldest age statements seen in English whisky. It's also why it was limited to 2,700 and sold via ballot.

Nose

Red apple, vanilla pods, pastry

Palate

Baking spices, dried fig, cherry

Finish

Oak spice, apple, vanilla

The nose is big, juicy, and bright with immediate notes of crunchy red apples, sweet honey, vanilla pods, soft hay, kataifi pastry, and a slight creaminess too, which brings richness and warmth. There is a big hit of spice on the tongue – baking spices like cinnamon, ginger, and cloves – which then moves into dried fig, cherry, and a discernible woody character. Texturally, while it starts soft, there is a waxiness that develops and coats your mouth. The finish is long, with the spices dissipating nicely to leave that waxy and woody character in the mid-palate. The apple and vanilla whisper in the distance, too.
