Ukiyo, Japanese Rice Vodka
Distilled in Chiba, east of Tokyo, Ukiyo Japanese Rice Vodka begins with locally grown white rice. A traditional Japanese rice spirit is redistilled to create a vodka that is smooth, subtly sweet, and defined by a silky texture. Produced in small batches to maintain consistency, it has received multiple awards, including Gold at the Global Asian Masters from The Spirits Business and recognition at the London Spirits Competition. The bottle design references Japan’s mountains and seas and the pursuit of precision.
Nose
Lavender, vanilla, fruit salad candy, floral notes, fresh fruit
Palate
Creamy texture, green melon, yuzu
Finish
Long, citrus oils, lingering viscosity, gentle spice
Beautifully floral and fruity on the nose, there are pronounced notes of lavender, a sweetness of vanilla and a fruit salad confectionery character which is bright and brings some freshness. The texture of this vodka is what immediately hits your palate. Having been made from rice, there is a silky creaminess which is exceptional, and carries the fruitier notes – green melon, yuzu – through onto the finish. The flavors are really well integrated, and there is an unexpected hit of spice right on the finish. The finish is long and that viscosity clings to the palate along with the citrus notes, which have become more oily as it progresses.
