Selected as a defining example of this rarely seen distillery, this release was drawn from the final Pedro Ximénez and oloroso sherry butts filled in 1992, representing the last of Pittyvaich’s younger stock before the distillery closed the following year. Bottled as Pittyvaich’s final 30 Year Old, it showed the depth that extended sherry maturation could bring, with a rich profile built around fruit, spice and layered complexity.

Nose

Dried cranberries, dark chocolate

Palate

Dried cranberries, cocoa powder, salt

Finish

Oak spice

This starts with a deep sherried nose full of cranberries, dark chocolate and aged wood. The palate is bold and sweet, brushing against sherry bomb territory as the spirit character hides beneath dried fruit and cocoa. The cask strength dryness is obvious until water opens it up. The finish warms gently with lingering spice and a soft sweetness. A rare look at a distillery on the edge of its final years.
