Distilled in 1976 during Scotland’s exceptional summer heatwave, this Talisker was shaped by unusually hot still runs that increased copper contact and influenced the spirit’s character. Matured for 46 years in a single puncheon, it became the oldest release ever bottled by the distillery. Extended ageing in a single cask brought added depth and definition, resulting in a highly distinctive and exceptionally rare expression that reflects both its singular production conditions and long maturation.

Nose

Salted caramel, wood polish, sea spray

Palate

Toffee, salted caramel, ash smoke

Finish

Oak spice, menthol candy

The nose shows deep amber character in the glass with sweet aromas of salted caramel and soft wood polish over a faint maritime note. The palate is rich and rounded with layers of sweet toffee and salted caramel balanced by a gentle wisp of ash as the Talisker character stays present but restrained. The finish is smooth and soothing with subtle wood spice that evolves into a cool menthol sensation fading slowly.
