The Last Drop, Carsebridge 60 Year Old, Release No. 42
Distilled at Carsebridge in November 1965, this 60-year-old single grain Scotch whisky comes from a distillery that ceased independent operation the following year and closed permanently by the mid-1980s. Drawn from a single cask by The Last Drop, it is among the rarest categories of Scotch — aged grain whisky from a defunct distillery. Its significance is historical as much as liquid: a document of a moment in Scottish whisky production that no longer exists.

The nose is exceptionally bright for a whisky this age, with moreish notes of toffee apples, sweet and sticky pastry, and clove-spiked oranges in a hot toddy. The palate takes that sweetness and turns it into sticky toffee pudding, and there is a distinct oaky character with some toasty and nutty notes too. The finish isn't too big, but all those notes are rounded out nicely, and there is a growing depth to all of those aromas and flavors. The lasting black pepper spice will make your lips pucker wonderfully.
