Glenfiddich hard-launched a new relationship with Aston Martin Lagonda with the release of a highly limited 48-year-old single malt Scotch whisky. The ruby-hued expression, taken from a single cask of 1976 vintage, was limited to just 50 bottles. We asked Glenfiddich's malt master Brian Kinsman why this was the right whisky to kick off the partnership. “Because it tastes great," he said. "It was very much about picking a whisky that is just amazing. It’s a classic Glenfiddich. It’s got all the notes you’d expect to have."

Nose

Baked apple, red berries, pastry, oak spice

Palate

Oak spice, tannins, red berries, baked apple

Finish

Oak spice, tannins

Red apples and berries give this whisky a pastry-like sweetness before the older notes come through. The palate flips the script with spice first and fruit later. The finish keeps the oak in charge but never overwhelms.
