This Royal Lochnagar formed part of Diageo's Special Releases 2021 as one of eight bottles of unusual origins. This one went through a dual maturation process of American oak and European oak, giving it sweetness and richness in equal measure. Its creamy texture comes from the American oak, while European oak kicks in with a tannic dryness towards the finish.

Worn leather, toasted oak, drieed tobacco

Fresh fruit and wood spice stay balanced on the nose. The palate has an acidic, breakfast-juice edge before orange zest and wood take over. The finish is long, woody and warming, made for winter.
