Lagavulin, Special Releases 2021
Distilled in 2008, this 12-year-old Lagavulin was matured in refill American oak and bottled as part of Diageo’s 2021 Special Releases. The refill casks allow the distillery’s maritime peat profile to dominate, with coastal salinity, lemon citrus and dry, smoky notes supported by restrained oak.

Oak spice, bonfire, ash, marshmallow, poached pear, blackberry
Palate
Figs, vanilla, oak spice, peat smoke
Finish
Peat smoke, cigar box
A dense, smoky nose packed with oak spice, bonfire and ash, lifted by toasted marshmallows, poached pears and blackberries. The palate is sweet at first with baked figs and vanilla before the oak and smoke tighten their grip. Classic Lagavulin weight throughout. The finish is long and peat driven, with a drying cigar box edge.
