The Singleton of Glen Ord, Epicurean Odyssey 40 Year Old

The Singleton 40 Year Old was the final release in the distillery’s Epicurean Odyssey Series. Following 12 years in traditional maturation, the whisky spent 28 years in a combination of ex-rum, ex-bourbon, and Pedro Ximinez and Oloroso sherry casks, before receiving a final indulgent finish in specially selected Ron Zacapa XO rum casks. The result is a multi-layered expression with tropical fruit influence, a lingering freshness, and subtle wood spice, epitomizing Maureen Robinson’s pursuit of maximal flavor. Its complexity and elegance make it a standout Speyside malt, a rare exploration of extended secondary maturation at its finest.
Nose
Cut grass, green apples, toffee, caramel, oak spice, pencil shavings
Palate
Umami, fizzy sugar, tropical fruit
Finish
Oak spice, tinned pineapple
Cut grass and green apples lead before toffee, caramel, wood spice and pencil shavings emerge with time. The palate mirrors the nose, moving from sweetness and freshness into savory notes with a fizzy candy lift before settling into tropical fruit. The finish is long with growing wood spice.
