This Royal Lochnagar whisky is the result of a pioneering experiment exploring the angels’ share — the spirit lost to evaporation from a refill American oak hogshead. When the experiment concluded, the remaining liquid was transferred to its current casks, where it matured undisturbed into its fifth decade. The result is a mature whisky with plenty of vitality. It exemplifies both patience and precision in whisky-making.

Jasmine, rose petals, blackberry
Palate
Sweetness, floral notes, violet creams, oak spice
Finish
Oak spice, cracked black pepper, potpourri
The nose is gentle with jasmine, wild rose and blackberry. The palate is silky and sweet with faint wax and an early burst of oak before shifting to a drying spice and a steady rise in heat. The finish is extended with a peppery glow that spreads across the palate.
