Cragganmore, Prima & Ultima Third Release

This Cragganmore 1973 came from the oldest casks in the distillery's inventory, just after its old coal-heated stills were modernized to steam. While some pine for the smoke-induced old ways, this whisky is a milestone in itself, as it symbolizes the dawn of a new age of precision distilling. Selected by Dr Craig Wilson, Cragganmore 1973 is one of eight carefully curated whiskies in the installment of the Prima & Ultima Third Release.
Nose
Oak spice, mango, grilled pineapple, charred fruit
Palate
Oak spice, pineapple, mango
Finish
Tinned pinepple, peat smoke, oak spice
Firm oak hits first on the nose before tropical fruit emerges with water: ripe mango, grilled pineapple and charred sweetness. The palate begins oak forward, then shifts to richer fruit and gentle spice. The finish is long with tropical sweetness and warm smoky oak.
