Gordon & Macphail, The Mr George Legacy Series, Third Edition
Created by Gordon & MacPhail to mark the life and influence of George Urquhart, this release reflects his long-standing commitment to single malt whisky. Often referred to as the father of single malt, Urquhart had a particular penchant for Glen Grant. The third release in the Legacy series, this 1959 Glen Grant was matured for 63 years in a first-fill sherry butt and bottled at natural cask strength.
Nose
Caramel, dried fruits, citrus fruits, walnuts
Palate
Pear drops, dried oranges, cranberries, walnuts, dark chocolate
Finish
Nutmeg, cinnamon, mint
Sweet caramel and dried fruits sit with citrus and nuttiness. The palate is oily and very sweet with savoury depth. Pear drops, orange oil, cranberries, walnuts and dark chocolate all appear. The finish warms with nutmeg, cinnamon and a lift of fresh mint.
