This ultra-aged Glen Grant was released by Gordon & MacPhail to mark the coronation of King Charles III in 2023. Distilled in 1948, the year of the King’s birth, the whisky was matured for more than 70 years in a first-fill sherry cask and bottled at cask strength exactly 74 years after his christening. Limited to 281 crystal decanters worldwide, it shows the depth of extended sherry cask ageing, with developed spice, dark berry fruit, raisin notes and touches of citrus peel carried through a long, composed palate.
