The Glenturret entered the ultra-luxury stratosphere with Eight Decades, its most exclusive whisky to date. Limited to just 80 decanters and priced at £80,000, the release paired a multi-vintage single malt with a Lalique crystal decanter designed by artist James Turrell. The whisky draws from eight casks spanning 1987 to 1998, delivering layered citrus, dried fruit and gentle oak spice, balanced for complexity rather than sheer age.

Nose

Dark dried fruits, stewed plums, toasted nuts, brown sugar

Palate

Cocoa nibs, oak spice, nutmeg, honey, pipe tobacco

Finish

Oak spice, sandalwood, aged leather, dark fruit

This opens with dark dried fruits and orange peel wrapped in soft milk chocolate. There is a quiet depth from cigar box and worn leather with touches of stewed plum and toasted nuts adding weight. The palate follows with bright orange zest, fig jam, dried cherry and cocoa nibs balanced by polished oak and nutmeg. The long mellow finish moves through citrus oil and gentle spice into sandalwood and aged leather with a final flicker of port richness.
