The Last Drop, Tomintoul 55 Year Old, Release No.38

Released within The Last Drop Distillers’ 2025 Collection, this 55 Year Old Tomintoul is among the oldest Scotch whiskies ever bottled by the brand. Distilled in 1969, the whisky was matured in a combination of sherry casks before a final marrying period in an ex-Matusalem sherry butt. The whisky presents a layered, fruit-led profile shaped by long sherry influence, combining sweetness, gentle spice and dryness with a controlled, settled structure that reflects careful late-stage handling.
Nose
Raisins, fruitcake, thyme, hazelnuts, oak spice
Palate
Stewed apples, caramel, mint, stewed fruits
Finish
Toasted oak, oak spice, dried fruits
Sweet raisins and fruitcake hit first, followed by thyme, toasted hazelnuts and a soft oak sweetness. The palate mirrors the richness with stewed apples, caramel and a mint-like lift. The creamy texture keeps everything in check. The finish leans on freshly caramelised casks, soft spice and plenty of dried fruit.
