Longmorn expanded its emerging single malt range with a 30 Year Old, bottled in single batches at cask strength. Long used primarily for blending, the distillery is now being positioned as a standalone Speyside malt by owner Pernod Ricard. Matured entirely in American oak barrels and hogsheads, the whisky emphasises Longmorn’s naturally creamy, sweet distillate character. Priced below comparable age statements from better-known neighbors, it focuses squarely on liquid quality rather than brand recognition.

Nose

Tropical fruit, floral notes, vanilla, honeycomb, caramel, sandalwood, cinnamon, clove

Palate

Floral notes, butterscotch, caramel, lemon zest, dried mango, oak spice, polished wood

Finish

Leather, oak spice, raspberry jam, apricot, earthy wood

A layered nose shows fruit and florals first before vanilla, honeycomb and caramel push through. Maturity comes through in sandalwood, cinnamon and clove. The palate keeps the classic oily Longmorn feel, with sweet and floral notes joined by butterscotch, caramel, lemon zest and dried mango. Deeper spice and polished wood develop with time. The finish is long with leather, oak spice and soft fruits such as raspberry jam and apricot, ending on a faint earthy note.
