Included in The Last Drop Distillers’ 2024 Collection, the Tomintoul 55 Year Old stood as the oldest Scotch whisky ever released by the company. Distilled in the late 1960s, the whisky matured for more than five decades across multiple oak casks before a final marrying period in an Amoroso sherry butt. The profile remains balanced and composed, combining mature Speyside fruit with restrained spice. Bottled at 41.8% ABV, the release comprised 582 bottles.

Nose

Dried cranberries, figs, walnuts

Palate

Oak spice, mint, orchard fruit

Finish

Dried fruits, oak spice, nutmeg

Surprisingly bright for its age, with dried cranberries, figs and a soft nutty backdrop. Wood spice leads on the palate before a fresh, minty lift introduces some greenery. The finish is balanced by the sherry cask influence, which brings a final burst of life and well-judged warmth.
