Mount Gay, Exceptionally Aged 15 Year Old
Mount Gay has been distilled in St. Lucy, Barbados, since 1703. The Exceptionally Aged Collection is the first time it has ever put an age statement on a label – 15 years. Jerry Edwards distilled the 15 on a single-column still around 2010; Allen Smith oversaw its maturation in ex-bourbon casks; Trudiann Branker finalized the blend in 2025.
Nose
Honey pomelo, buttercream, black tea

This is really inviting on the nose with some surprising notes such as pomelo, floral honey, a buttery richness, and the lasting aroma of fragrant Earl Grey tea. The palate brings some creamy coffee, sweetness of vanilla essence, and some nutty waxiness of Brazil nuts, but sadly lacked the rich texture that I was expecting from this age. The finish is pleasant, albeit a bit one-dimensional, and the lasting impression is of vanilla sweetness. I wanted more oomph from this rum, but if you're after something sweet and easy drinking, it is a convincing outing from Mount Gay.
