Named for the notorious privateer whose story drifts between history and legend, this Jamaican rum combines vintages from 2000 and 2005. Matured in ex-bourbon barrels, it receives a finishing period in peated quarter casks before being brought together in refill butts, adding a thread of smoke to its tropical character. Bottled at cask strength, it is released without chill filtration or added color.

Nose

Jamaican funk, vanilla, prunes, dates, baking spice, light smoke

Palate

Fermentation notes, Maraschino cherry, plum, orange peel, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla

Finish

Long, dark fruit, lingering smoke

The nose is unmistakably Jamaican, with a gentle thread of funk sitting behind rich vanilla from the ex-bourbon casks. Dark fruits emerge first, notably prunes and dates, joined by warming baking spice and a faint wisp of smoke from the peated quarter casks. On the palate, it delivers exactly what you want from a Jamaican rum blend. Fermentation-driven character arrives first, followed by juicy fruit notes of maraschino cherry, plum and orange peel. A soft nuttiness builds in both flavour and texture, while sweet spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon develop alongside vanilla. The finish is long, with the darker fruits deepening toward the end and a subtle smokiness lingering in the background.
