Nikka From the Barrel, Extra Marriage celebrates the 40th anniversary of Nikka's flagship whisky, packaged at 500ml in its iconic square bottle. Here, the blended whisky comes from Miyagikyo and Yoichi single malts, along with the corn-based grain whisky of Nikka's Coffey stills. This edition is based on a simple idea: doubling the marriage period of the original 1985 expression to result in a stronger and more nuanced flavor.

In its initial aromas, elements of honeycomb and candle wax are joined by roasted tropical fruit. The first sip introduces lemon peel and candied orange zest to the equation, along with the spiciness of fresh ginger. All of this is rendered soulfully upon a full, slightly creamy body. Through the lingering notes, slow and steady in their retreat, chocolate milk emerges, ultimately offset by an ever-so-gentle ashy salinity. A supremely well-balanced affair between citrus, cacao, and smoldering smoke.
