This is Last Drop Distillers' first Japanese whisky, a 20-year-old blended malt featuring liquid from the now-closed Hanyu distillery alongside other undisclosed distilleries. After years of searching, the LDD team recognized this cask as exceptional, combining rarity with history from a distillery whose life was marked by struggle. Bottled at 60% ABV, the whisky balances power with elegance, offering floral and grassy notes that unfold with intensity. When reduced to around 45%, sweeter layers of vanilla and apricot emerge, highlighting the depth and versatility of a liquid that preserves the legacy of one of Japan’s most iconic ghost distilleries.

Nose

Jasmine tea, cut grass, vanilla, apricot

Palate

Floral notes, vanilla cream, stone fruit, cut grass

Finish

Long, floral notes, stewed apricots

Neat, the aromas are floral and grassy, then soften into vanilla and apricot with dilution. The palate follows the same track, settling into a rounded sweetness with a subtle herbal lift. The finish tapers slowly, keeping the fruit notes alive.
