The Last Drop Distillers included a 22 Year Old Japanese Blended Malt in its 2025 Collection, built from malt whiskies distilled in 2000, the final year of Hanyu’s operation. Matured in two Mizunara oak casks, the whisky shows the wood’s distinctive influence, with aromatic spice, florals and subtle sweetness. The texture is silky and measured, with fruit and incense notes in balance. The result highlights Japanese maturation precision rather than overt intensity.

Nose

Cedarwood, cardamom, star anise, forest floor, crème anglaise, almond brittle

Palate

Grilled pineapple, lychee, pomegranate, red currant, polished oak

Finish

Clove, baked pear, sugared pastry, oak spice

The nose suggests a quiet apothecary, with cedarwood, cardamom and star anise layered over forest floor freshness, crème anglaise and almond brittle. The palate turns more exotic with grilled pineapple, lychee, pomegranate and red currant in a creamy texture, framed by aromatic resins and polished oak. The finish brings warm clove, baked pear and sugared pastry, with the spice building then easing into a soft, lingering glow.
