Delamain, Sig Cigar XO Edition No.2
Delamain has specialized exclusively in Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie since 1824, and Sig Cigar XO is the first cognac in the house's history built expressly for the humidor. Edition No. 2 continues the collaboration between ninth-generation cellar master Charles Braastad and cigar author Aaron "Sig" Sigmond, who has paired Delamain with premium cigars since 1992. The cognac is aged to XO status, uses only Grande Champagne cognac, and is released in strictly limited small batches.
Nose
Grapes, dried figs, baking spices
Palate
Stewed fruit, oak spice, citrus oil
Finish
Candied orange, toasted oak, stewed fruit
A fine example of a complex but highly drinkable XO from Delamain, this is, of course, designed to complement a medium-to-full-bodied cigar, but will excite anyone looking for a suitably weighty-yet-fragrant Cognac. Rich dessert notes, Tarte Tatin, fruit compote, and well-balanced, slightly spicy oak.
