Courvoisier, Courvoisier XO Royal
Courvoisier closed 2022 with its first permanent addition to the core range in almost 30 years: XO Royal. Developed by outgoing chief blender Patrice Pinet, the new expression revived a historic royal recipe blending Grande Champagne and Fins Bois eaux-de-vie. Positioned between XO and L’Essence, XO Royal delivered a more mature, savory profile, with toasted nuts, caramel and extended cask influence, marking a significant moment in the Maison’s modern history.
Nose
Roasted hazelnuts, caramel, dried apricot, baking spices, worn leather
Palate
Burnt toffee, walnut, fig, black tea, oak spice
Finish
Roasted nuts, dark honey, seasoned wood
Toasted hazelnuts and warm caramel lead a refined nose with dried apricot, baking spice and aged leather lending depth. The palate turns more savory with burnt toffee, walnut and fig before black tea and soft oak tannin structure the mid-palate. The long finish lingers with roasted nuts, dark honey and seasoned wood in a confident close.
