Frey Ranch, Farm Strength Uncut Rye
As one of the few 100% farm-to-glass distilleries in the world, Nevada-based Frey Ranch prioritizes time and tradition in its whiskey making. This Farm Strength Uncut Rye is a barrel-strength whiskey made from 100% Cereal Winter Rye grown on the 2,500-acre ranch the distillery calls home. A 2026 launch that draws on the success of its 2023 Farm Strength Uncut Bourbon, this inaugural batch is bottled uncut at 124.52 proof from 100% sustainably grown rye.
Nose
Menthol, charred oak, citrus peel

Rye bread, dill, dry finish
Finish
Caraway, earth, black pepper
This barrel-strength behemoth is as true to style as can be. Initial aromas of mint and charred oak are immediately apparent. Butterscotch emerges as the liquid opens up to air. Rye grain and spice are dominant from the nose through the finish. Along the way, the sturdy heat of its full-bodied application is sculpted; first into mint, then into a spice set that includes dried vanilla and fresh cracked black pepper. It's not for the faint of heart, nor for drinkers who prefer a bit more balance to their rye. But for full-on aficionados of the category, this is an admirable offering worthy of significant salute; a savory gem, carrying multiple layers of spice rack to the party. Robust and rounded, if you can fight through the heat.
