Often described as the pinnacle of Elijah Craig's range, the 18 Year Old is one of the oldest continually available single-barrel bourbons in the world. While no two barrels are the same, all barrels are charred to the same specifications, and all whiskey is bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof). This is a proudly oak-driven bourbon. It's bold. It's robust. You can certainly taste that charred oak from start to finish. But that's what people love about this whiskey.

Single barrels fluctuate by design. But the baseline for this particular age-stated label tends to lean on a crowd-pleasing conflation of chocolate and char. The nose grabs your attention with the former, adding a dollop of maple syrup for good measure. The palate and finish are more concerned with pricklier notes – sightly smoky char and tanned leather to leave you with a drying sensation, leaving you eager for subsequent sips.
