For the first time in almost 20 years, Buffalo Trace brings a new member into its Antique Collection. The addition of EH Taylor is long overdue, but it's been worth the wait. Named after a colonel of the same name, EH Taylor was a key figure in shaping modern bourbon. This expression, aged 15 years and four months and bottled at 100 proof, is a great example of why the small-batch bourbon is so highly rated. It carries Taylor’s legacy of integrity and craftsmanship.

Nose

Cherries, candied peel, coconut, milk chocolate, rose, vanilla sugar

Palate

Maple syrup, cinnamon, pepper, dark chocolate, dry smoke, charred oak

Finish

Oak tannin, vanilla, licorice

A bright, expressive nose of cherries, citrus peel, coconut and milk chocolate with floral lift. The palate is fuller, showing maple syrup, spice, dark chocolate and a hint of dry smoke from charred oak. Complexity builds throughout, finishing dry with vanilla sweetness and a trace of liquorice.

A symphony of bourbon's greatest hits: vanilla, caramel, maple syrup, cherries and dark chocolate. The palate is equally bountiful with maple syrup, dessicated coconut mixed in with cracked black pepper and a whisp of charred oak. A long finish filled with caramelized walnuts.

The nose leads with maple candy, spiced Christmas biscuits, dried figs, sultanas, a touch of cassis and a hint of root beer, with the spirit’s character still clear after more than twelve years in new oak; the wood reads as steady vanilla and a little desiccated coconut. The palate brings more maple, vanilla fudge and orange liqueur, alongside oak notes that nod toward gentian root and cocktail bitters without becoming harsh, then fruity black pepper, slivered almonds, macadamias and a thin slice of Bakewell tart. It isn’t quite as complex as the nose suggests, but the texture is good and it’s genuinely enjoyable. The finish builds on the dried fruits and spice with a subtle umami note reminiscent of Maggi seasoning, long and persistent.
