Sazerac Rye, 18 Year Old, Antique Collection 2024

Sazerac 18 Year Old featured again in the 2024 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, continuing one of the longest-running rye releases in American whiskey. Bottled at 90 proof, it is notably restrained in both strength and texture. The whiskey opens with fruit-led aromas before transitioning toward drier, more herbal and liquorice-driven notes on the palate. While less assertive than its bourbon counterparts, extended ageing brings a layered, evolving finish that rewards patience rather than power.
Nose
Candied pear, stone fruits, herbal notes
Palate
Fruit, liquorice, oak spice
Finish
Oak spice, dried fruits, charred oak
Candied pear and ripe stone fruit give an inviting sweetness on the nose with a light herbal thread below. The palate is delicate for its age, opening slowly from restrained fruit to more bitter notes of liquorice, oak and faint spice. The finish stretches out with spice first, then sweetness, before settling on charred oak.
